About Jewish National Fund of Canada:
Founded in 1901, Jewish National Fund of Canada - Keren Kayemeth Le’Israel (KKL-JNF) is the Canadian branch of Jewish National Fund, working to develop the land and infrastructure of Israel. KKL-JNF is committed to reclaiming the Jewish homeland and to making Israel beautiful, strong, and peaceful. Jewish National Fund owns 13% of the land in Israel, much of which is in the Negev area. The charity has planted over 240 million trees, turning 700,000 acres of desert into livable land.
In F2016, KKL-JNF allocated $11.0 million to fund projects in Israel which fall into seven categories: forestry & environment, water preservation, security, community development, research & development, tourism & recreation, and education. In F2017, funding for projects fell to $5.7 million.
Recent News: January 4,
Results and Impact: Jewish National Fund of Canada reports that recycled water collected by its reservoirs is used to irrigate over 112,000 acres of crops. Without the reservoirs, farmers would be using valuable fresh water. KKL-JNF has recently funded security projects to plant trees in neighbourhoods near the Israel-Gaza border, making people feel safer and less exposed.
